THE ENEMY

A project by Karim Ben Khelifa

In a room, two combatants face off. You’re in between them. Step up to meet them, listen while they explain what drove them to fights, to defend their land, their city, their family… all in the name of peace. The Enemy presents face-to-face confrontations exemplifying three long-standing conflict zones.
Once immersed, visitors meet and listen fighters reflect on their experiences and perspectives of war, which allow visitors to better understand their motivations.

This 300 m2 exhibition is now touring worldwide: it world premiered at the Arabic World Institute (Paris) in May, 2017. And has followed: Tel Aviv (June 2017), Boston (fall 2017), Will follow: Montreal (spring 2018), Vancouver, Winnipeg, Seoul (dates TBD), Mons (fall 2018). Additional venues forthcoming.

The Enemy is an unusual opportunity to see a fantastic new way to tell stories. (…) It takes journalism art and storytelling in directions I haven’t seen before.
